Industrial is the most direct version of the problem Envoy handles. No permanent staff, long gaps between visits, and a fault that can run until somebody happens to drive out or until the equipment stops.
Whatever monitoring is already at a site, Envoy connects to what it can reach and confirms it is still reporting. Where coverage stops partway, Envoy fills in. Where there is none, Envoy supplies it.
Envoy is not a safety system. Gas detection, fire, and process-safety systems stay primary, and Envoy does not replace them. What Envoy adds is knowing those systems are still reporting, so one that went offline shows up as something to fix rather than sitting there looking fine. Where they are connected, Envoy can also record that an alarm fired and alert the contact you assign.
The Problem
Why this is harder than it used to be.
A site can go days or weeks between visits. Point monitors collect signals, and at larger sites SCADA aggregates them. Confirming that those signals are still arriving is a separate job, and a quiet site and a blind site look identical either way.
Distance compounds it. One firm can be responsible for dozens of unattended locations spread across a wide territory. Site visits run on a schedule, and a fault that starts the day after a visit runs until the next one.
Insurers and regulators are asking to see that monitoring was deployed and working, not only that equipment was installed. That evidence usually has to be assembled after the fact from systems built to run the process rather than to document it.

Every alert goes to a named person and gets tracked to resolution, and if nobody responds inside the agreed window, it escalates. That routing can depend on the site, the type of problem, and the time of day, which matters when the responsible maintenance firm covers a wide territory.
